Chablis Vieilles Vignes Massale 2019
Source : Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2019 Chablis Vieilles Vignes "Sélection Massale" comes from vines over 50 years of age in the lieu-dit of Les Pargues. This has a striking, almost pungent bouquet featuring vivid scents of green apples, gooseberry and nettle and light flinty notes. I love this. The palate is very well balanced, with a fine line of acidity that counterbalances what feels like a "fat" and concentrated Chablis. There is a touch of spiciness toward the finish, completing an excellent Chablis that punches above its weight.

A more floral nose display very pretty notes of pear, apple, lemon rind and oyster shell wisps. The beautifully textured and concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess both fine richness and power while exhibiting lovely length on the delineated and stony finale. This too possesses fine quality for its level and is also worth trying.

The 2019 Chablis Vieilles Vignes Sélection Massale is excellent, delivering aromas of orange oil, white flowers, pear and oyster shell, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated palate that's bright and chalky. It represents great value. Around a third of this cuvée matures in used barrels, the rest in tank.
