Chablis 1er cru Vaucoupin 2019
Source : Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2019 Chablis Vaucoupin 1er Cru has a very seductive bouquet of dried honey and subtle white chocolate aromas, perhaps missing a bit of edge and flintiness. The palate is rounded and honeyed on the entry, lower in acidity compared to its peers, and quite powerful, though I am looking for more tension on the finish. One of those wines that comes across as an attractive Chardonnay rather than an unmistakable Chablis.

Another success is the 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural wine that reveals notes of ripe citrus fruit, buttered pasty, pear and oyster shell. Lively and complete, it's matured entirely in tank.

A relatively restrained nose timidly reveals a pretty and cool mix of various citrus, iodine, shellfish and white peach. The plump but intense and beautifully stony middle weight flavors possess a more refined texture though much less power and muscle on the graceful, lemony and very dry finale. This lovely effort should drink well after only a year or two of bottle age.
